Riverhawk Rise: Microgrant Program
Student ideas. Community impact.
Turn a community need into a student-led project.
Riverhawk Rise helps Susquehanna students turn community-focused ideas into action. Selected students and groups may receive $400–$600, along with guidance and mentorship, to lead a service initiative with a local nonprofit or public service partner.
What to know
What makes a project eligible?
Your project must address a genuine community need with input from a nonprofit, public agency, school, or other community partner. Students should lead the planning and service work.
Can I donate the funds to a charity?
No. Funds cannot be used for direct donations, charitable contributions, fundraiser proceeds, or pass-through gifts. They must support the approved project itself, such as necessary supplies, materials, limited transportation, outreach, or program expenses.
What should my proposal include?
Explain the community need, partner involvement, student leadership, activities, timeline, budget, and how you will document participation and community impact.
What happens if my project is selected?
You will receive funding and mentorship, implement the project during the semester, track participation and outcomes, complete a reflection, and share results at the Student Civic Impact Showcase.
